Need Help Convincing Parents

I applaud your planning and motivation, but aside from the driving concerns I think your agenda is overly ambitious. 2 colleges per day is the MOST I would ever try to see. Otherwise you're rushing in and out, spending your whole day driving from place to place, and not staying on any one campus long enough to get a flavor for the place. I'd bet at the end of the week you'd be hard-pressed to remember what you saw at what school - I'd be getting them all mixed up in my head.

Perhaps two day trips to a total of 4 colleges over the course of your break would be more reasonable. Or at most 3 days to a total of 6 colleges. Otherwise at the end of the week you're not going to remember what you liked at which school, and they will all blur together.

The driving issue is completely separate. You said an 18 year old would be driving? That helps, but it's still a lot of driving to unfamiliar places, which would give me pause as a parent.

I've done Chicago to Notre Dame and back in a day. It's doable -- for an experienced driver. Unfamiliar highways at rush hour and teenaged inexperienced drivers are not a good combination.

The idea of my 17 year old doing it is scary. I would not be thrilled to have my 21 year old doing it. I agree with the other parents that you need a real live responsible adult to accompany you.
