Hello! Thanks for reading and helping!
I was admitted to these two programs, and I cannot decide between the two. They are slightly in different realms, but both programs interest me greatly. I concentrated on neurology and pharmacology while earning my BS in Biology at UCSB. I am interested in working with biotechnology and more specifically stem cells. The USC program focuses directly on stem cells and regenerative medicine, and the UCI program is broader and covers more topics in biotechnology and molecular biology. The UCI program is 2 years long and costs 15K a year whereas the USC program has an optional second year of research (45k a year).
I prefer to be in the lab as much as I can because my goal is to be a researcher. If I go to USC, I would want to take the second year, but the cost is tremendous. Do you think it’s worth the money to go to USC? Would I get a better foot in the door when I apply for research positions if I had a masters in stem cell medicine from USC?
What do you think of each program? I appreciate any advice, guidance, and direction you can offer.
Thank you for reading this. I appreciate it!
