Need help. financial aid, grants

OK. So my real good friend want to go to college. She is is her mid 30's and has 4 kids. She has been a teacher at a private school for the last 6 years, but has no degree or anything. She has no money to put towards school. She want to go into the area of public relations. I would really appreciate any information on what types of financial aid and grants wouls work for her and what would she have to do to get started with this process. She is looking at starting in fall 07. is there any aid or grant that would cover extra so she could go to school full time and not have to work? I would appreciate any help on this.

(I googled for a bit but there is so much info out there, and i think a lot of it is bs.)

Two types of aid. Need-based, and merit-based.

Start with the school(s) she wants to attend-- she needs to meet their application deadlines. Find out what need-based aid applications they require (FAFSA, probably, or FAFSA and Profile). Check the deadline for those. Meet the deadlines.

See what scholarships the schools she's interested offer-- or what outside scholarships might be available for a person in her situation.

But start with the schools she's interested in-- all the info is on their websites.
