The prompt is SO broad, that I can write about anything at all. I'm not sure how to find the topic. I want it to be unique. The parameters are essentially "anything that will let us help to get to know you." The admissions percent is 50%.

How do I find a topic??

I am having a really hard time coming up with an essay topic too! My best advice is to go through your daily/weekly routine in your mind. Is there anything seemingly mundane that you could play up in an essay? Even something as simple as your impressions of traffic on your commute, helping your little sister with her math homework, or that time last summer you sat next to this person in the dentist waiting room who got you thinking, could be an incredible essay if you can figure out how to use it to make yourself shine. Or make a list of all your personality traits, quirks, goals, etc and see if you can come up with a really good example of one and how that makes you a great candidate for their college. See what I mean?

@nhoff7349 I’ve thought of a lot of things, but I have no idea on how to spin all these small things into an essay topic, especially something that will allow me to shine. I don’t want my writing to sound unoriginal.

What are your top ideas right now?

@nhoff7349
In order:

My “internship” with a pathologist for 2 wks
English is my second language but you wouldn’t think it
My first math meet
Sketching in my free time
Why there is a model of a brain on my desk (I’m dad had like 2 of them and I wanted one because every time I look at it, I remember what my goals are)

I also want to show my personality through this essay. The first and second ideas are mention in the actual application

I think you could made a really interesting/unique essay from the brain model on your desk. Like I said earlier, one of those mediocre, day to day things that you could somehow spin a beautiful story from. Like how/why you got it, how long you’ve had it, and, most importantly, how it reminds you of your goals.

@nhoff7349 I’ll try it. The story isn’t that great, but I’ll see what I can do with it.

If you want, I’d be happy to look over your draft! Though I am in the same position as you and am no authority on college essays. Good luck!
