Need help finding schools

I have kind of an odd list of things that I like in a school and I was wondering if there was actually anything out there that was similar to my wants/needs. I really like passion in a school. Tulane and Ohio State would be some examples of passionate schools but Ohio State is too big and Tulane is a little too rigorous. Size wise I would like medium to small, just nothing so big that I can’t connect or ask my professors questions. For academic rigor I want to go to a “real” college just nothing that is crazy stressful like the Ivy Leagues or even Tulane with an ACT average of 30. An average of 28-29 is good but 30 is pushing it. While I do like the small campus feel I would like it to be in an urban area or at least an area where there are things to do surrounding it, again, Tulane is a good example. If possible a liberal arts option would be nice. So over all, small, passionate, urban-ish college with a good academic/life balance (I realize that in a good college the balance won’t be perfect, you have to spend more time on academics just no college infamously stressful), and liberal arts. Oh, and nothing too far west. I live in Ohio so nothing west coast.

Passionate but not too academically demanding? that is a contradiction.

U Tampa, Elon, UNC Charlotte, Unc Wilmington, UAlabama Tuscaloosa Honors

TomSrOfBoston, By passionate I mean enthusiastic people, like at Ohio State you can walk into any building yell OH and least ten people will yell back IO, that doesn’t necessarily make Ohio State academically demanding. I just want to be in an environment where people are passionate about some aspect of their college if that makes more sense.

What’s a “real” college?

By a “real” college I mean not a community college or something where the average ACT is super low.

What is the budget?
Have you looked into Case Western and Miami of Ohio?

artloversplus, I am pretty open budget wise as long as it means finding the right college. I have looked into Miami a little, Case Western is probably out of my league though. Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely look more into Miami!

Community colleges are real colleges. Where do you think all the smart, low income kids go?
