Long time no post here...but hoping the CC community can help me out. DD has applied to about ten law schools. So far she has offers with pretty good scholarship money from 2 of the schools. She has yet to hear from 6 schools. Problem is, the schools with the $ offers want answers soon. Anyone had this happen or heard of such a "problem." Believe me, the glass is way past half full here, but she does not want to accept an offer from one school and then get a nod from her favorite school. So how should she handle this??? ask for more time or accept the offers and back out later if something better comes up??? don't like either of those answers! Suggestions appreciated....m

CC has a Law School thread in the Prof & Grad School section. There are some parents and a bunch of students who post there fairly regularly. Try asking your question there, too.

I teach at a law school, and it is extremely common for a student to accept an offer of admission by placing a deposit and then choose to go elsewhere (usually a higher-ranked school) as other admissions offers come in. Unless you can’t afford to lose the deposit, that’s what I’d recommend. Some students withdraw from our first-year class as late as the first week of class when they get a last-minute offer from a higher-ranked school. Law schools expect this to happen. They each have their own wait lists, which they can draw on in the event that they lose students.

Thanks for advice.
