Hi, I am a little confused with GPA calculations and how different colleges calculate it. 7 year ago I had graduated from HS and went for a year to a CC near my home but due to family issues that led to depression and self esteem issues I did quite bad, my overall GPA was a 2.34 and with the state I was in I took a leave of absence for awhile just to get myself to a better place. And than last year I moved and decided that I wanted to finish my education with a degree in Nursing so I applied to the community college in the new town and got accepted. They transfered some of the basic courses required in the pre requisite for the Nursing program and coz of my low GPA they would not let me get into the program till I brough it up to a 2.7 gpa. I took 4 courses each 3 credits and passed 3 of them with A and 1 C last semester and my GPA for this new college is a 3.50. Now I got an evaluation in the mail from the nursing program saying that I have met all the requirements accept for the overall GPA which they put down as 2.54. What is confusing me is that they put down the 2.34 GPA from my last college and the 25 credits courses all are C and B that transfered along with this semester but when I am calculating it I am getting a 2.70 overall gpa. Am I calculatin wrong. Can someone please help me with this.
You should ask the nursing program that you applied to how they reached that GPA. They may be counting certain grades for admission purposes and not others. Some nursing schools focus on pre-requisite courses and just look at those grades.
