@jazzymomof7 my son just started his jr year in HS (Texas, private, unaccredited). In years past UT Austin considered our diploma to be the equivalent of a home school diploma. This past year, our classes were evaluated and approved by the NCAA Eligibility Committee, and now our school name shows up on college NPC’s and admissions search pages. However, regarding AA criteria (as previously linked in the SB 1543 bill, specifically SAT/ACT & Class Rank), is still somewhat unclear to me. Different TX colleges have different criteria, so it’s difficult to tell what a given test score would equate to in terms of class rank. I guess working directly with admissions for each school is the best way to get clarity.
Does anyone know if NCAA eligibility approval qualifies the AA requirement for “coursework equal in content and rigor” required in the SB 1543?
For example, here’s the admissions info for TAMU for uniform policy:

I don’t know anything about his company, nor am I endorsing its services, but the link provides some of the info for different Texas colleges:

First post on CC. Sorry if this violates any CC etiquette.
My question wasn’t clear. Let me try again…
Regarding automatic admissions to Texas colleges, does anyone know if an unaccredited high school automatically precludes the applicant from being considered?
I was told by an admissions office that being unaccredited would automatically exclude the applicant from auto admit, but reading SB 1543 closely sounds like it may be possible if the test score is high enough.
I think I found my answer. Looks like school accreditation is required for AA consideration, per section ©(2)(A) of the Texas Administrative Code - Uniform Admission Policy:
(2) For a student in a Texas private high school, the private high school providing to a Texas public institution of higher education the transcript or diploma outlined under subsection (b)(2) of this section must:
(A) Be accredited by the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission or other accrediting organizations recognized by the Texas Education Agency;
According to that college consulting site you linked, if he gets the test score he’s aiming for, he should be auto admit at UTD. That school is easily within driving distance (30 min commute), so we’d only have to pay tuition, books and fees. That’s good news as I heard from some teachers that it is becoming more difficult to get in to UTD.
