I'm just a freshman in high school and i got a 207 on my PSAT and I'm doing good on all the multiple-choice q's. The only problem is my essays (according to my English teacher) SUCK. I get all A's overall but on essays in that class, i always get low B's or C's. How can i drastically improve my essays so that i can get like a 2250-2300 on the actual SAT considering i get like a 720 in the others? Are there any classes i can take during summer or books i can read to help me?

Read a lot. The best essay writers in high school are the ones who read a lot. The more you read the more you are exposed to different writing styles, which you can then apply to your own essays. You still have time.

Why don’t you ask your teacher why your essays suck, and start from there.

Seconded ACTsecrets.

Also, another cool way to improve your writing is to either take “Creative Writing” or “Journalism”. Both will help you address issues with writing, and might help improve your writing significantly in less than a semester, unless you have a bad teacher.
