Need help on....SAT MATH

Probability questions?

I dont know how to approach different ones. Can someone tell me the best way to approach specific probability questions?

How do you guys do it ? I gotta learn from the pros.

hi everybody

Give us a problem maybe? You could read books like Gruber's or Barron's How to Prepare for the SAT 2007-2008. You need to first know all the rules. Look at a book like the ones I mentioned and look at the rules for probability. Then see if you can implement them correctly on their practice problems. We can't help you increase your logic/reasoning skills, you can just increase your knowledge. It's as simple as Current Variable/Total # of; the more you practice, the better your logic becomes.

Like this one...

The Tyler Jackson Dance Company plans to perform a piece that requires two dancers. If there are 7 dancers in the company, how many different pairs of dancers could perform the piece?

I still have many of these scenarios to memorize, such as sometimes you have to divide what I'm about to do by 2.

7*6=42/2=21

There you go. There are 2 slots, so that's why I only have 2 #s(being multiplied). For slot 1, any of the 7 dancers can do the role. For slot 2, there are only 6 since one of them already took slot 1, so I Believe it's 7*6. I don't know exactly why, but you have to divide by two because you can't have something like AB and BA since they are the same dancers. If you have extra time, then CHECK BY COUNTING. It's not stupid, and you always want to check your problems by different methods because you might miss something(careless mistake) if you do it the same way.

Dancers=A, B, C, D, E, F, G
AB, AC, AD, AE, AF, AG
BC, BD, BE, BF, BG
CD, CE, CF, CG
DE, DF, DG
EF, EG
FG

disregard double post

OR you can use your calculator and do 7C2
