Need help on which day to take SAT

i'm registered for april SAT. but i'm considering the test day change for it.
if i take it this april, i willl probably ahve a solid score but not a great score for the top colleges. since i didn't study crazy for the test yet, i also think if i took it later i could do much better.

choice (tests before early decisions)

1) take april one as practice, then have 2 more chances for SAT tests
and 2 more chances for 2 SAT 2s.

2) dont take the april one since i'm wasting a the SAT score. Take SAT three times on later test dates. and have only one chance for SAT 2 tests.

i would prefer (2) for better score because i get 3 real scores with preparation compared to 2 real scores. but i'm worried about having only one chance for taking 2 sAT 2s. what if i mess up? i'll probably study for it in the summer, but i'm worried.

could you answer the above questions as fast as you can.
if you have time and want to read the below ones.

how many times do people take SAT and SAt2 if you're aiming for the top.

any suggestions. i'm preparing very hard for the test from about ... 2 days ago, but now i realized i have about 17 days more to prepare, and 1 more day to decide whether i can change the test date without losing much money........... thanks

i just realized ill be one day late for the test change deadline if i did tomorrow.
would they allow me to change?

I vote for taking the April SAT especially since you are considering ED. The more time you have for retakes the better. My daughter did retake one SAT II subject test. She took the SAT I three times and improved every time, with no review courses, just a book. Hope this helps.

if you are thinking ED, your choices are April, May, June, October, and, perhaps November. Suggest saving May and June for Subject tests if you are taking any AP classes this year -- you'll study for those anyway. Thus, April and October for SAT.

Just my $0.02.

My Ds schedule--it worked for her:

Oct/June --SAT1 (Took in Oct junior year as a prep for the PSAT;Happy with June score--didn't have to retake during senior year)

May --3 SAT 2s

Oct --retook one SAT2, took another SAT2

You will be busy filling out applications in the fall of your senior year, in addition to trying to get stellar grades. The more testing you can finish in your junior year, the better off you are.

that was helpful.
so i decided to take the test this april.
thanks

Do some prep--go over grammar rules and brush up on math problems at the least.

Take the test in April. If you do well, then great. If you don't do as well, consider it a "practice". don't worry about what colleges will think of the lower score. colleges expect that a SAT taken as a junior will be lower.

Plan on taking the SAT twice, even if you are "happy" with your score. Fact is, what score makes you happy now, may not make you happy later.

My d did better on the SAT at the end of her JR year while everything (mostly math) was fresh in her head.
