I am having a really difficult time deciding what colleges to apply to! Right now Barnard College would be first choice and I'm planning on applying ED. Still, I know it's a reach for me. I'm also considering American, UNCW, Goucher, Knox College and some schools in the UK. I want to go somewhere on the east coast, preferably in a larger city. Any suggestions would be really appreciated! Here are my stats:

Caucasian female from NC
3.7 GPA
Somewhat rigorous high school transcript (3 years of Latin, 4 years of German, one AP class and the vast majority honors classes)
Won a CBYX scholarship to study abroad in Germany last year.
Just took the ACT, and am anticipating a 26-28 based on practice tests.
I have an excellent teacher reccomendation from my German teacher, scored a 5 on the AP German exam and am currently serving as her intern.

ECS:
2 years varsity lacrosse
German Club
FCCLA
2+ years volunteering at a thrift shop that benefits animals
YMCA Youth Councelor
Study Abroad

I was planning on taking more AP classes Junior year, but was in Germany which kind of messes up my transcript. Anyways, thanks for all your help!

Erin’s Dad-Sadly, that is my weighted GPA. I will need FA and I intend to major in German and International Relations.
1980collegegrad-Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll look into Holy Cross but I think Tufts would be a huge reach for me?

Try looking into Boston University, Emerson, Brandeis, and Northeastern. They’re all in or around Boston and great schools. I live in Boston but want to go outside New England for college to experience something new; we have similar stats and if I wanted to stay in MA, I would definitely consider these!

dont go to brandeis if your uncomforatble being around loads and loads and LOADS of jews. I went there with my jewish summer program and even I had an overdose on yarmelkes.

Was it a full year or semester in Germany? If so, that’s very impressive and distinguishes you from many others. It more than makes up for not taking as many AP classes.

And take a look at George Washington University in DC-a great location for someone with an interest in international relations. Excellent internship opportunities.

Thanks M’s Mom, I’m actually thinking of applying there and AU. I only spent a semester in Germany, but the scholarship I earned was for a year. I had to leave early due to a death in the family though.

Erin’s Dad- thanks, I’ll look into it but I was hoping to leave NC for the college, and I won’t need full financial aid, just a little help.
