Hi everyone, I am a transfer student, got acceptance from CAS in UNC and U of Michigan, and I am a math/ stats major,
It looks like U of Michigan has stronger math/ stats program, but it will cost me $12000 more compared with UNC in a year.
Really dont know where to go, please help me.

$12,000/year over four years? Do you have the money up front, or would you be taking out loans? I don’t think the difference between the two programs is worth ~$45,000 (after interest)…

I assume you’re talking about 2 years in that you are a transfer student? For $24k, I think you should go wherever you would go if cost were no object. $24k is quite managable on a 10 yr. loan, or whatever terms you negotiate for your loans.

yeah, if I spend 2 years in UMICH, probabaly I need $24000 more.
so is UMICH much better than UNC if I do not take money into consideration?

Michigan is indeed better than UNC in math. For the difference in cost of only two years, I would attend U-M. If you don’t take money into consideration, this is a no-brainer.

I don’t have a dog in this fight. I don’t know if Michigan is worth $24k more than UNC for a student majoring in undergrad math. Both are great. Go where you think you’ll be happiest.
