Need help to make a choice, CS or EECS.

I'm interested in CS. Which one should I choose? If I choose CS in L&S, the reputation of it is not as wonderful as EECS. But i'm still considering double major. so it is a little bit hard to double with EECS(CSE).
Also, on the webpage of EECS department, it states that The B.A. program in Computer Science(in L&S) is not an ABET accredited program. Is ABET important?

Please give me some advice.thx

ABET -> Not important for CS
B.A -> Doesn’t matter to software companies

You take the exact same CS classes as EECS majors. The only difference is that EECS majors are required to take more math/physics/EE classes.

B.A -> Doesn’t matter to software companies

does that mean, they dont care if its BA or BS, or does that mean they do not want BA.?

They don’t care… as long as you can answer their questions

Yep, as long as you can code…it does not matter at all

I’m in L&SCS. Students sometimes think B.S. is more prestigious because it’s harder to get in to CoE. but companies don’t seem to care. EECS and CS people have the same CS classes. What’s way more important than B.A. vs B.S. when applying for internships / jobs is your experience and your GPA.

I think we need to make a sticky on this forum regarding EECS and CS.

I would say after you’ve taken an EE course, if you’re even somewhat interested in EE then switch. If all you want to do is CS, then I don’t see a need to switch.

Problem is that the typical gateway EE class is going to be 42 or 100 (same class, former just doesn’t have a mandatory lab section), and my experience with the instruction has been…well, non-positive, to say the least.

No one is keeping you from taking EE40 or 20N. Also, you get credit for 42/100 if you take 40 (and vice versa, but people don’t know that).
