Need help understanding!

So i was looking into rasmussen college. Did all the paper and financial aid. What now I’m confused on is the award letter. The award letter has both unsub and sub loans on there including the pell grant. I’m really nervous about going into school debt so I’m not sure if am I taking out a loan or what’s going on. I went to a community college for one semester before and my pell grant covered the whole semester so I have never seen the unsub and sub loans, which includes signing the master promise note. The classes doesn’t start till October so I was wondering if it’s better to just go back to the community college and withdraw from rasmussen college (which I’m not sure who I should talk to about withdrawing completely from rasmussen.) I have a screen shot of the award letter if it’s easier to explain it. Sorry I’m on the phone so I might not make sense!

Rasmussen is a for profit school. For profit schools are basically concerned with making money and not with you getting a degree. Run as far and as quickly as you can. Withdraw now if you have not started classes Go back to your affordable community college do well and transfer to your local 4 year school.

For profit colleges will leave you with a lot of debt that you will have to repay whether or not you get a degree ( chances are that you won’t because you will not be able to afford to finish the program).

Please avoid for profit schools. You are better off at community college for now, where your education is affordable.

Be sure you follow all the required steps to unenroll from this for profit school. They will hassle you for money if you don’t take care of unenrolling exactly right.

Please post again if you have any questions about what you need to do to inform them. Best to do it in writing and keep a copy of letter for your records. Document it all.

Yes please help! I am so nervous now. I sent an e-mail about wanting to withdraw. To who should I even write the letter too and who do I even drop it off too?!

I wrote an e-mail to the person who enrolled me and been contacting me. She is the program manager.

Just don’t go. Don’t let them talk you back in.
Did you sign papers? Read the fine print.

I actually did unfortunately. Stupidity on my part. I could not find the exact location in the student handbook… luckily class doesn’t start till October so I’m hoping I get a chance to just completely withdraw.

They might have a deadline by which you have to withdraw to get your money back, or not owe them anything. Time is of the essence!

Ask someone in the Financial Aid department at the community college you attended to help you review the paperwork. They are well versed in all the terms and should be very willing to help you navigate your withdrawal and help you understand the paperwork. Show up as soon as possible, tell them you will wait patiently, you are sorry for not having an appointment, you want to be able to return to the community college as soon as possible and need to get out of your agreement with Rasmussen. They know what Rasmussen can and can not do, so you will have an advocate on your side.

Great Advice to get help from community college financial aid office.

Do not procrastinate. Try to read the paperwork to find any deadlines while you sit and wait in the community college financial aid office.
