Jake, you might try asking more about film studies schools, rather than the general "where do I fit" question. I'm sure you'll get some suggestions that way--you could also try on the Parents forum--they are always wonderful

check that link out to threads about film schools too... you could make a list of schools you notice in those threads and then I'd be glad to help you narrow it down and decide what might be a reach, match, or safety.

Emerson - High Match
Boston University - High Match/Low Reach
Ithaca - Match
Drexel - Match
Wesleyan - Reach

I don't know much about SUNY Purchase or FSU

My one suggestion is to work on getting the critical reading up. Your math scores are already good for those schools as is.

I don't know how much you can do for your GPA now if you're a junior. If you have an upward trend and your freshman or sophomore years are bringing you're GPA down, then that's good.

Yeah, I'm taking them again Saturday and I've been studying for a low-mid 600's score. Do you have an AIM screenname I can reach you at for some info? If not I'll ask here..

What makes BU a high match for me, isn't it tough to get into? Do they require a portfolio? I've been to all their websites and it's tough to find out what they require as far as a portfolio/ability/interest goes.

I'm just basing it off their scores compared to yours...

Boston University accepts about 55% of applicants. Average CR is around a 640, and Math is around a 650. GPA is about a 3.5, but that's harder to compare with the different schools. I really have no idea about portfolios, but it might be good to e-mail the school--which would show interest and get your name out there as well as provide you with the information.

Emerson is a bit more selective and accepts about 45% of applicants. CR scores fall between 590-680, and math between 550-650. Avg GPA is a 3.6.

I don't know if your willing to look at california, but USC has one of the best fil programs, heavily supported by spielberg. That is definetly a reach, but a great school to aim for. If LA is option, Chapman University is also known for a fantastic program and that would be a match. I know a lot of great people come out of chapman
