I'm a sophomore at a small private college. This semester, I must make a decision on my college major and I am torn between biology and marine science. I am leaning towards marine science because according to several biology majors I've spoken to, they regretted their decision and complained of the rigorous requirements. Please share your experiences and advice with me if you have any background in these fields.

Look at the courses you would need to take and decide which one has the best list, base your criteria on your interests and abilities. Look at the job/grad school opportunities after college. Rigor is good if it means you are getting a lot for your time spent in college.

If you’re considering graduate school, you should be aware that graduate programs in marine science accept students whose undergraduate majors were in biology. The opposite may not be true.

My D solved this dilemma by double-majoring. She was at a considerably larger university though.
