Ok, so I've been studying consistently with SATs this whole summer. School starts in a couple of days, (August 20th) and I'm going to be busy with swimming and taking about 6 AP classes as a junior. My score improved from a 1700 to around a 1900, but I am still struggling with some components of reading, math, and writing. On average, I usually score:

Math - 750
Reading - 550
Writing - 600

At the beginning of summer, I used to get around 650 for Reading, but now as I have learned more vocabulary, I spend a bit more time on the vocab section at the beginning of each Reading section. Then, I usually have to rush for the passages. I used the strategy of trying to read the questions first and then skimming through it, but sometimes the questions aren't easy to me and I end up spending too much time to get it right. It's either I spend a BUNCH of time on select questions and get them mostly correct, or answer all of the questions and end up getting around 8 questions wrong out of every 24 questions.

As for writing, I used to score around a 700 after reading some awesome tips from some practice books, but now I can't even get to that score. :( Is it because the practice books tend to take their own strategies and directly apply it to their practice tests? I feel like I am being tricked to believe my score improved because I am following their "tips", although they are useful.

As for math, I feel like I have significantly improved a lot this summer. I used to score arounda 650 but now I feel like I am learning the ropes of their chicanery and usually I don't get more than 2-3 questions wrong in a section, unless the math section was extremely challenging.

By the way, I use the Official College Board books for my practice tests scores.

Is there any tips on how to keep my reading score around a 650 again, as well as for writing? I feel like I improved my math score, but let my reading and writing score drop significantly.

Also, most importantly, should I take the SATs in October or January? I feel like I invested so much time on studying the SATs and giving it a shot in Oct, but my first quarter will be busy with swimming at 5:30 every morning and taking 6 APs every day. Then again, I feel like I will forget everything by January. :(

Thoughts? I really really appreciate and need advice, especially for the reading/writing sections!!! :(
