Need help with payment!!!

On my checklist it still says that I haven't made my first CARS payment. So, I signed up for the e-bills/e-CARS stuff and my account says that I need to make $20 payment. But when I click on "make an e-payment," it tells me that it will pay from my checking account. But I don't have any money in my checking account since I just got a new one. Shouldn't I be able to use my financial aid to make these kinds of payments? Oh I'm so confused. How do I transfer funds from my financial aid account at Berkeley to the bank or how do I pay for this crap? Thanks for the help.

I was "pretending" to pay, and it did say to get the money from my checking account.
I thought it was because I hadn't got any money in my CARS account. But it wasn't.

Anyone knows ? I want to know ,too.

The payment is SO big O_O (b/c doesn't count work-study which was a large portion of my fin. aid).

So, how do I pay?

If you don't want to (or can't) pay by e-Check, then you can always send them a check in the mail. Just click the "Back of Bill" link when you're logged on to the e-Bill website for all of your options.

Yea, but what I'm asking is, will my bank account be charged when I have no money in there? How can I use my financial aid or grants to pay for that $20.00 fee that's showing up in my e-Bill statement.

Bump Bump Bump.

erm, another question. sorry to sound retarded but they havent included our housing fees into the CARs statement have they? im lost.

Scholarships, grants, and loans (if your file is complete) have already been applied to CARS. Anything that you owe at this point is AFTER those things were used to pay off everything. I assume the OP is talking about the $20 housing application fee. Even though all my loans came through, they still didnt pay this off. I assume its because its not included in the student budget. You must pay this yourself I think. Its only $20...

As far as housing and fees and stuff. Go log onto your Ebill. At the top it says everything that has been charged or credited to your CARS account. Then theres a bar with a summary of this information. Below that it shows everything that remains to be paid of the charges listed above. For me, all my housing showed up in addition to my fees. If youre on campus it should show up.

Hm...Okay, so when I log onto Bearfacts, and choose "quick summary", it now says my balance is "0.00". This changed yesterday. I can see that my direct student loan paid the $ 2,027 bill. When I calculated, my first housing payment, the remainder of my registration fees (that my grant didn't cover) came to $ 2,007.00. I assume the $20.00 housing application fee made this total jump to the $ 2,027 I saw yesterday, before my loan paid my balance. I guess my loan paid the fee, I don't know about you guys.

Now, when I log onto e-bills/e-check, the $2027.00 balance is "Not Paid", and I'm not sure why, since BearFacts indicates that I have paid my balance. Anyone know why this may be?

Thanks kiddos, and good luck with this annoying process!

I think Ebill is only updated once a month. The payments your loan did should show up in September. You only have to pay the amount on the quick statement, if I understand correctly...

But damn this is confusing

Oh wow, I didn't know it was updated once a month.

So, if my 'quick statement' is now $0.00, should I consider myself safe until September?

I'm kinda worried because my parents will be taking a PLUS loan out. Berkeley has yet to send the forms to our house, or maybe it's just taking a little while. I'm wondering if, when the loan is placed into my account, they will just charge us housing payments for the rest of the semester in bulk. We were just charged for this month, and paid for it yesterday (er, my loan did). Soooooo...yeah. I'm kinda talking to myself. I'm so lost.

Thanks for all the help easymack :)

My scholarships still haven't been transferred to my CARS account. Has anyone else had this problem?

I paid online through my bank, not through Berkeley's Sallie Mae because I don't trust them.
