I graduated with my Masters from the BU Comm School. There is nothing even vaguely related to fashion or merchandising. Why the school would have an alumni association dedicated to a field for which the school supplies no major or concentration is totally beyond me. The value of such a resource, with no students graduating in the field, is dubious to say the least. Also, why would a school that does not provide majors or concentrations in the fashion industry be “excellent at finding internships” in the field? This sounds like a snippet someone (mis)read on Wikipedia or in a Google search that was expanded into a recommendation.

has worked out well for our young relative . Interned last summer at a famous fashion publication.
That Fashionista article is interesting and helpful for those thinking to combine fashion and marketing, especially if writing about or promoting fashion, style and design is part of the equation.
I would add, however, that marketing, communications and PR are different career paths from fashion merchandising and product development. Some of the schools listed would be good for merchandising, some not.
@lisaol Hello! I am currently a senior at Marist, studying Fashion Merchandising. I can honestly say that Marist was the best choice I ever made, especially for fashion. The opportunities for networking, internships and jobs are numerous. Our proximity to New York is priceless, without actually being in the city. I have had 4 internships, and have a job at Macy’s post-graduation. Marist has challenged me in my fashion classes, in addition to my core (liberal arts) courses. I also have a minor in business and participate in the Honors Program. Marist is the best of both worlds and I would definitely recommend coming to visit to learn more, and potentially doing a shadow day with a current student!
@maristisgr8 thank you for the information. Congratulations on your job offer. Will you be working in the city? do most people graduate with a job lined up already? Do you know how they are with aid?

@lisaol run the net price calculator at Kent State. A 31 ACT should get some nice merit there and it is about $28k I think for tuition, fees, room and board.
They have study abroad in Italy I believe.
