Okay, well, our school is offering new classes/bringing back classes and I'm now so confused on which class to take for my senior year.

The list goes like this :

1) AP Psychology. They're bringing back the class and the teacher is sooooooo nice and funny. I'm not sure how many people will be in it though since most of my friends took IB psychology.

2) AP Biology. This is an old class, but I had the teacher for PIB bio and absolutely LOVED his class!!! Such a good teacher and so funny. Probably one of my favorite teachers at the school. However, biology never was my forte. I was good at it, but not great. Should I pick based on teacher or class?

3) AP Environmental Science. The bio teacher also teaches this class (with a lot of other teachers) and he warned me that I was too smart to take the class. He said it's a flip of the coin on how good my class is. He said I could be stuck in a class where nothing gets done or I could get in a class where I learned a lot. He gave a good example. He had 2 classes last year. One class had an 80% passing rate with 3 5s. The other class had an 11% passing rate with all of them getting 3s.

4) AP European History. This is the first time this class has ever been offered at our school. I have no experience about this or anything. I'm not a huge history person, but European History sounds more interesting than any other history there is.

5) AP Human Geography - This class is very simple, but a LOT of busy work. My sophomore friends in it hate it a lot because of the workload, but it's soooooooo easy to get an A.

6) AP Physics B - MOST IMPOSSIBLE CLASS EVER!!!!!!!!!!! However, I'm very math and science oriented. I have friends who have gotten As, but not without hours of studying. Most of my friends fell in love with the class, but say how impossible it is.

Don’t take bio just for the teacher. If you don’t like the material, you will be miserable - it goes at a very quick pace (the typical science textbook is Campbell’s, and that has about 60 chapters of 40-50 pages each…) and homework is usually rigorous because there’s so much you need to cram in your head.

Environmental is the cop-out AP science. If the teacher says you might be too smart for it, then don’t take it. Many colleges don’t accept credit for it either.

Euro is interesting, but it’s like Biology - if you don’t like it, it’ll get very tedious. Large amounts of reading.

Didn’t take Human Geo so I can’t talk about it.

AP Physics B is actually not as hard as you make it seem. Are you sure you have a great affinity for math/science? Most people who want to do an AP Physics will opt for Physics C since it’s a lot more concentrated and you learn a lot more. Physics B simply doesn’t have the same respect in college circles as Physics C, mainly due to the fact that it does not use calculus (Newton invented calc so he could solve physics problems; physics without calculus is not true physics). In addition, B is very broad in scope - you’ll cover mechanics and E&M and optics and waves and everything in between, just barely scraping the surface of each. I don’t recommend it.

I heard Psych, Human Geo and Environmental are easy.AP Euro is typically taken by sophomores in many schools.

I took AP Bio, the test was a killer! It was seriously the worst test I have ever taken in my life. The class was a joke so we had to self-study. I crammed all my studying into the last month went to a tutor for 5 lessons, ended up with a 5. If you have no interest in biology, or if you are bad at memorization do not take the class. It demands lots of attention and reading.

Pick based on teacher and class. Wow, you seem like a very optimistic person, complimenting everything!

If you want to be an engineer or something I’d strongly recommend you take physics and focus on it and focus intently. It definitely is not an easy class. I found that the concepts found in my physics honors class are hard to grasp. AP Physics would be suicide for me. But then again I’m not math-oriented.

Well, I’m a sophomore so out of those I’ve only taken Euro and Human Geo, so Ill give my 2 cents on those.
Human Geography was really easy, a lot of common sense… It does help you look at the world in a different way I guess. I switched into the class in the middle of the year and I got a 4 on the exam.

Euro- I’m in the class right now. Honestly, the work can get annoying at times, but I personally enjoy it a lot because it shows you basically how the world is today… A lot of the material is interesting, but a lot of it is boring. One thing I dont like about it is how we have to memorize a lot of book titles and stuff. But I’m sure you’ll like it.
