My D18 has recently gotten interested in communications/media studies, something along those lines. She wants mid-sized and lots of school spirit. I think Syracuse would be a great fit but not sure if she wants to deal with the travel from CA. I need some comparable schools on the west part of the country.
Estimate on stats- right now she has a 3.8 gpa both w and uw. She’ll take 5-6 AP’s over next 2 years. No testing yet but I’m guessing 28-30 on ACT.
Current list-
Univ of Washington (not mid-sized but she has never toured a large school so she wants to see it) She loves Seattle
U of Denver
Syracuse
Tulane
Boston University
Northeastern
Brandeis- maybe
NYU- maybe
D16 will be going to a small LAC. D18 does not want that small of a school but D16 predicts she’ll change her mind and will end up at a small school.
She’s a humanities kid- loves reading and writing and is very personable and social.
Any ideas are appreciated!
You’ll probably be full pay for UW since you’re OOS. Hopefully that matches your budget. Missouri has a good J school. Ohio University. Southern Cal.
Yes, we’ll be full pay. D16 got great merit money from Chapman and Denver but applied ED elsewhere.
I think D18 would like Chapman but not sure how much school spirit there is.
Seriously consider Loyola Marymount University as well as Gonzaga. Both schools sound as though they would fit your daughter.
Santa Clara University might be a good fit. It is in the same sports league as LMU and Gonzaga. It might be worth while to look at the other schools in that league which are similar in size. http://www.wccsports.com
Thanks for the responses. Forgot to mention that we’re Jewish. I think she’d be open to a Jesuit school if it has an active Hillel but probably not her top choice.
I think Chapman would be a wonderful choice! Take a tour and see just how much spirit they have!
TCU seems a fit. Not sure if Dallas/Fort Worth is “Western”, but sure feels that way.
USC would be a reach.
Good luck!
I had to look up Hillel, but found this for SCU: http://www.hillel.org/college-guide/list/record/santa-clara-university
When I was there, one of the religion courses I took was “Judaism and the Holocaust”.
“interested in communications/media studies, mid-sized and lots of school spirit, very personable and social”
I agree with @ColdinMinny , TCU would be a good fit.
