I am interested in studying earth systems, I want to study the effects of climate change and pollution on the biosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere. I am interested in conserving biodiversity and limiting our impact on our ecosystems. The two areas of study that I am currently considering are environmental geology and conservation biology, but I do not know which one to choose. I want to double major in geology and an area of biology, but which branch of biology should I choose according to my interests? As far as conservation goes, I do not want to study specific species, I am more interested in the entire ecosystem and how to limit our effects on it. Can anyone give me some advice based on my interests on which major to choose?

Well it depends on which school you are going to. Some schools do not offer majors so specified to the ecosystem. That being said I would look into environmental biology. I wish I could help more especially since I am a biology major.

Have you considered a “Science of Earth Systems” major?
