I need to borrow $5000-$7500 to cover my sophomore and junior years. I'll be taking summer classes at the end of both years, and my school, UW-Madison, offers very little aid during that time.

Both of my parents are willing to co-sign, and I'll need the money in about 2-3 weeks.

Any recs?

Thanks.

Whatever you do, stay away from the Sallie Mae loans. They are in trouble for all sorts of questionable activity, in fact my son's school is threatening to bar them from any contact with their students. I don't think any private loan will have the turn-around time you are wanting. Check with the financial aid office at your school to see what options they have for you.

Well, I can borrow from my school, but I'd have to make payments before graduation and I won't be able to do that.

Is there really no time left for me? I think I'd like to borrow from Wells Fargo, and one of their offices is about a mile from my house.

Could it all be done in 2-3 weeks?

I borrowed from SallieMae for my first two years, and I was disappointed with their service. My financial aid office recommended Chase Bank and Citi Bank. Check out those two. I compared them and their wasn't a whole lot of difference. Since you will have a co-signer, approval shouldn't be a problem. I applied for my loan with Chase on Thursday night (two nights ago) and I received an email today saying the process was complete and they are sending the info to my school for certification (it's a certified loan). So I applied on August 7th and the billing office should have my payment by the August 22nd deadline.
