Private Student Loan Help Needed

I'm looking for a 7k private loan. My mom will cosign for me to get it. I exhausted the measly federal stafford loan. The problem is that the EFC number that I got by filling out my FASFA must be wrong because my mom is a single mom and can't afford a cent towards my college. I'm barely able to pay my utilities and rent but I only have one more semester to go and it would be a shame to give up now. I've only got 3 weeks to come up with the money so a private student loan is the only way to go.

I don't want to use sallie mae, suntrust, or think (my school isn't listed). Are there any other private student loan companies that aren't impossible to get approved for? My credit is kinda crappy but my moms is pretty good.

I hope this message is appropriate to the forum.

If I were you, I'd first talk with the financial aid office to see if any mistakes were made that could be fixed. If you could get a larger Stafford loan, that would be much better than getting an alternative loan because it will have a lower interest rate. If that doesn't work, you might try All Student Loan, which is a non-profit lender. All Student has some nice policies, like lowering the interest rate during repayment if you set up an automatic payment plan.

I looked into Wachovia and Citibank last year for a student who was undocumented, and they were both willing to set up an alternative loan if the student had a cosigner with good credit who was a permanent resident. Your situation is easier than that, so it makes me think those would be reasonable places to look as well.

try Chase. i hear that you don't need a cosigner with them. i have crappy credit and i was conditionally accepted for a $9000 loan.

try them and good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I'm waiting on my mom to fill out her part at suntrust and if we don't get that loan then I'm immediately going to go with chase, all student loan, citibank, and wachovia. .

Today I found out that are landlord sold the place so my roommate and I have to move. My roommate works but doesn't have any money stashed away so now this loan is definitely needed.

Thanks again for replying and helping me with my situation.

Ok,

We got the AES student loan. I'm not sure if I have to pay the interest every month but it shouldn't make a huge dent.
