I need to apply schools with the best financial aid but with a high acceptance rate too. Nothing else matters. Any recommendations?

We need more info…

Is your family low income?

If not, how much will your parents pay each year?

Do you have a non-custodial parent?

What are your test scores and GPA?

What is your major?

(schools with high acceptance rates usually do NOT give much in FA)

Generally, those two numbers move in opposite directions.
The schools with the best need-based aid also tend to have low admission rates.
However, of the ~60 colleges that claim to meet 100% of demonstrated need, the following have some of the highest admission rates:

Thomas Aquinas 81% accepted
Carroll University 78% accepted
St. Olaf 60% accepted
Mt. Holyoke 42% accepted (women only)
Occidental 39% accepted
Macalester 37% accepted
Grinnell 36% accepted
Connecticut College 36% accepted
College of the Holy Cross 34% accepted

Most of these are small liberal arts colleges. The applicant pools may be relatively “self selecting” (with high average GPAs and scores).

Some not very selective schools have relatively low list prices, so some students who would need financial aid at expensive schools may find such less selective schools affordable even without financial aid. Examples would be the South Dakota public universities, which are low cost even for out-of-state students. More here:

Grinnell,Macalester, and Holy Cross are ranked 17th, 24,and 25 among this year’s US News. HC is the largest of the 3 with ALMOST 3,000 students. For this year, Holy Cross has Jan26TH application due date, not sure about the other 2 schools.
