Need some advice

Okay, so May 1st is coming up and i'm somewhat confused as to what i want to do, so i figured i'd come here to ask for some advice.

My situation is basically like this; I am accepted and leaning towards attending Emory University next year, since it offers a top business school (what i plan on majoring in) and an environment that i really liked.

However, I had originally planned on attending the University of Michigan, until i was deferred and eventually waitlisted. At this point i'm still considering just transferring into michigan for my sophomore year, since it offers an equally prestigious business school for about $20,000 less a year (i'm a michigan resident)

The reason i can't decide for certain though,is because having visited both UM and Emory, i have to say i prefer Emory over UM, so i'm uncertain as to whether i would transfer back to michigan after attending Emory for one year.

My question is this:
Which of these schools do you think is the better option (assuming i was accepted into michigan), Michigan which is more practical, or Emory which is more "favorable" (like it more)?

And if you think Michigan is, should i still attend Emory for a year before seeing if i want to transfer, or should i just attend a school which costs less (Case Western or MSU) with the plan of transferring to Mich. for my 2nd year?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if my description was confusing (i'm pretty confused right now anyways, so that's probably part of it ;p)

Opi,

You don't know if you will ever get into Michigan. They might not accept you as a transfer, or they might wait list you again.

I think you should look at your other options. Which do you like best? Which is the cheapest? Did you get better financial aid at one of them? How much money do you/your family really have available? Which gives you good options if you decide to change majors?

Ask yourself if you can scrape the pennies together for four years at Emory. If the answer is No, take it out of consideration no matter how much you like it, and learn to love one of the other schools.

No one can blame you for feeling confused right now. Wishing you all the best.

i think you should take michigan out of the picture for now. you dont know if youre going to get off the waitlist this time and its kind of silly to base where you might spend four years on the chance to transfer, expecially because emory is already a great school. you dont know if you woulod be admitted transfer from msu of case western so you shouldnt go there unless you really love the schools. plus you really like emory, after a year you might decide you dont even want to transfer and if you still do you have that option that if you didnt get in you wouldnt be at a school you didnt wanna be at.

yeah i dont know if that made much sense.. then again it all depends on how big of a factor cost is to you
