need some advice

hi, i posted in multiple threads, so sorry if you are seeing this more than 1 times…

but anyways,

Which school would you choose between Stanford and Caltech if you are majoring in Mech E? and why?

Caltech is an engineering school like MIT. Stanford is a general university with a reputation as being very rigourous but still laid-back. I have no direct knowledge of the engineering school at Stanford, but I can't imagine it being bad. The decision would probably come down to how you feel about geeks. :) However, I would look into how Stanford's reputation translates to their engineering school.

Don't goto Cal Tech, that is if you have a social life or to make connections in other areas besides Mech E. For me atleast Cal Tech is great if you want connections with future leaders in engineering, but Stanford allows you to connect to a wider variety of students who are rising in different areas. Cal Tech's male to female ratio is horrible. If you're a guy with a Porsche your odds are the same as your roomate that stocks up on anime.

well, i may be biased because i'm going to stanford, but (i've posted this before) when I went to Caltech-the students there were telling people i knew not to go to the school because they were so miserable...

then again, it's probably a more intense, focused atmosphere if that's what you like. it's probably a personality choice in the end; where you'd feel most comfortable, what are your preferences???

P.S. Isn't it a little too late to be deciding now since the deadline has already passed?
