Okay. Before I explain my situation cue any unneed judgement. Im a soon to be sophomore in college. I have a 3.48 GPA. I excel in public relations, statistics, and over all have a high quality work ethic. To add, im a likable person. I am a Marketing major with more than likely doing a second major of Political Science. I love politics. I volunteered for a local chapters of one of the Presidential Campaigns in my area. Loved it. I would really like to be a political consultant/campaign manager or a lobbyist. Ever employer has liked me. Ive been able to climb the latter for the first two employers ive had. What is the issue? Well a few months ago I got a dui. NO I do not have a substance abuse issue. NO am I not a horrible human being. YES I did learn from my mistake. Also more than likely I will do a one year deal were in a year it will be off my record. What are my chances? Should I give up on the dream of being the man behind the scene in politics. I would love constructive opinions.
It will be off your record in one year, and you are a young man. Please don’t let this crush your dreams! Also, this one youthful mistake pales in comparison, considering what some politicians have done or said they did and still get elected.
Learn the lesson and never do it again. Protect your good name like the stack of platinum bricks it is.
Learn your lesson. Never do it again. Be aware that there are other people in politics with a drinking problem.
I don’t think that you need to worry about it, or at least don’t worry any more than is necessary to make sure that you never do it again.
Most people recognize that 1) we make mistakes, 2) we should learn from them. If you never put yourself in the position to have it happen again (not just not getting caught, but NEVER getting behind the wheel with any alcohol in your system), you will have demonstrated that you learned from your mistake. That’s called being an adult.
You don’t need to give up on your dreams, but this post is… weird? You seem to think of yourself very highly. A 3.48 does not indicate good work ethic, nor do I think saying that you’re very likeable is applicable or relevant to this scenario.
I hope you learn from your mistakes, there is no excuse for drunk driving.
