Hi guys, I recently took the March test, and did not score nearly as well as I hoped to.
I have taken test like 3 times and everytime.. I obtain a mediocre score in reading.
My SAT breakdown was:
780 M
740 W
630 R
12 E
.. so I really don't know what i'm doing wrong. anybody have any tips? I actually thought it went really well.
I hope for a 2300...it's kind of a grandiose goal.. is it possible to hit that mark before I fill out applications next fall or am I being too unrealistic?

First and foremost, WOW! A 12 on the essay is very impressive. This is my second time taking the test (the first time I got a 2200, 670 R, 750 M, 780 W) and I got a 2330 (730 R, 800 M, 800 W). I’d definitely say you need to study your vocabulary, as a 700+ on reading is impossible without absolutely getting those sen-comps dead cold. A 2300 is definitely possible, just review your grammar rules/idioms and you’ll get an 800 writing. Math you got a 780, so you’re definitely able to get an 800. Don’t give up! You still have a few more months to cram in for critical reading. BEST OF LUCK!

If you haven’t been able to budge your reading score on your own, it’s probably time to work with a tutor if you can. There’s something you’re missing in either your knowledge or approach.

Thanks for the tip guys, and good job on your SAT Aspirare. I’m probably going to just start reading a lot more to get my verbal score up there.

Princeton Review tutoring is a godsent. I went from a 670 CR (first time) to a 760 CR (second time) after 3 hours of tutoring. Good luck!

Thanks, OP! Just give it some time. Your verbal will definitely go up. The first time I ever took a practice test, I got 540 R 540 W 560 M. Look where I am now! You’ll be fine :)
