I had a 3.67 GPA going into this year (junior). I really have struggled in Precalculus and Physics this year and each year math has always been my trouble subject (low B/high C range).

If you haven’t noticed, I am really into business, more specifically accounting. Overall, my goal since 9th grade has been to do very well in business related classes and programs (DECA) and I think it is safe to say that I have done quite well. Do you guys think that my interest/strong record in business will really help my chances/ultimately make up for a sort of low overall academic record?

I appreciate it.

Honestly, I don't think a strong interest/record in one area will make up for something that is a result of your overall academic career. That being said, I don't think a low GPA is a death sentence, but rather, as cliche as it sounds, an incentive to work harder and show it.

Reach. I think with your ok GPA you'll need stellar SATs. I don't think your E.Cs stand out enough from what I see from other chance threads.

Dear gmags2003 : While I am getting a reputation for being a "tough reviewer" on chance-me threads, a three-way anticipated SAT of 1850 would put you at the 25th percentile of the accepted class. Scores of 1750 would be likely near the 10th percentile or lower. Your class rank of top 15% or so is somewhat below average based on notes we are seeing here on the message board. An SAT II of 500 is really far below par. Your GPA itself is below the mark for BC.

Seriously, you can apply, but this is a reach that as Bill Murray said in the original Meatballs, "... we can play so far over our heads that our noses bleed for a week to ten days ...".

Given your business passion, why not pursue Bryant? Very nice campus (recently visited for non-collegiate reasons), excellent facilities, good parking for commuters, close residential quarters, and not terribly isolated.

If you really like Boston, go ahead and apply, because you never know what will happen! but, I also agree with scottj, apply to schools like Bryant that will recognize your passion for business and are not quite so difficult to get into. I wish you the best in the application process!

Thanks a lot, everyone.

I haven't gotten a chance to see in person any colleges other than BC and Bentley, but surely I will go and visit Bryant and Northeastern very soon. It would be amazing to get into Carroll, but I don't have that much going for me academically (above average, but at BC it probably doesn't cut it) :(

yeah, i would say reach or even dream

go ahead and apply however, at least BC's application is easy lol
