When I filled out and sent the CSS PROFILE to U of M last year, one thing I had to fill out was a prediction of my parents income for 2010. I'm now finding out that that one of the numbers was $20000 higher than it will probably be, meaning my parents total "predicted" income for 2010 will be $20000 less than I wrote.

Should I get this fixed, or do they only care about 2009 income anyways? I'm thinking maybe fixing it would give me a significant amount of more aid? Also since my entire PROFILE was an estimate, should I update it after my parents do their taxes to make it exact? Or does U of M mostly use the FAFSA anyways to determine aid? How do you update info on the PROFILE anyways?

Well I know some universities that state if you make under x income you will be given need base aid. I don’t think University of Michigan has such, I’m also not sure how they give need base aid unlike the other state school MSU ( they have Spartan Advantage Program, typically a efc 0 qualify).

Well to determine need based aid for the 2010-2011 school year, U of M only looks at 2009 data to determine your EFC, right? IDK why the PROFILE wants you to guess your 2010 info in the first place…I mean anything could happen between now and 2011 that would ruin the estimate, especially in this economy…

^ Ok thanks! I’ll let them know after I do my taxes. My 2009 data was all estimated too (since parents hadn’t done taxes yet), so I might have to update that too. I heard that after you submit the FAFSA though, U of M sometimes corrects it?

Anyways, how exactly do you submit updated PROFILE info to U of M?
