Hi there,

So I've been trying to put together a resume to send out to various internships I've found online. Since I'm going to be an incoming freshman (at a CA community college), would it be relevant to put my high school GPA? For an hs GPA would it be better/matter to put the unweighted/weighted GPA?

Also I've been reading here that putting scholarships could also be something to put on a resume (especially since I don't have any real work experience -- besides ECs like editor in chief of the school newspaper, etc.). I was offered a nice scholarship from a small private school but opted not to go since I'd rather transfer to my top choice. Would it be relevant to put that or no?

I also received a tiny scholarship (like $100 lol) from a club I was very involved in. Would it be useless to put that on a resume?

And last question -- regarding cover letters: How do I format it? Like do I follow MLA - Double spacing, 1 inch margins etc?

Thank you so much if you can answer any of my questions! I really appreciate it! :)

Since you're only a Freshman I'd put your HS GPA... what does weighed/unweighed mean for HS...

If you did not accept the scholarship I wouldn't put it...

I would include the scholarship from the club.. it's an accomplishment, you can put it under awards, you don't necessarily have to put the amount.

I have a sample cover letter I could send you... send me a private with your email and I'll send it...

What field are you in? Business, Science?

@ dezziner

Include all high school GPA, activities and employment on your resume. You are just a freshman in college.

pcristiani: I took some AP classes so I get that "extra" point to my GPA. Although my school doesn't officially weigh them. But the classes are recognized as giving a boost to your GPA when you apply to schools (like UCs, etc.)

And sure I'd love to see a sample cover letter! I'll pm you right now.

I'm majoring in English but I'm interesed in Journalism. So I'm trying to intern for magazines, newspapers, even publishing companies. Something along those lines.

tenisghs: Thank you! Now I just have to make my list. :)
