Need some serious Help

Hi

I was about to pay my Purdue tuition deposit and I got to know that I received 50% scholarship at SUNY Buffalo..

Now Please advice me as to where I should go .

Is purdue worth the dollars that My parents are gonna put in ??

Thank you

Are you an international student?
Reason I am asking is the 50% is a LOT of money if you are in India.
honestly, go where the money is. Find out exactly what they are covering and for how many years.

The tuition fee at Buffalo is 15K a year and they have offered me a renewable annual scholarship of 7K …

Purdue’s tuition fee is 30K with no scholarship .

And Yes , I am an international student from India .

Btw , I already paid the advance deposit at Purdue :P

And that as I understand is

Since you are eligible for 7k Scholarship at SUNY,
8k from your pocket into 4 years = 32k at SUNY, Buffalo,
plus room and board=appx. 10-15k per year= 40-60k for 4 years
Total cost=70-90k

Fee 30k into 4 years = 120k at Purdue,
plus Room and Board= appx. 10-15k=40-60k per year
Total cost=160-180k for 4 years

Add to that per year the following, approximately,

Travel to India twice a year=200-250 dollars
Books=500k
Meal Plan=1-2k
Medical Insurance=2000k
Monthly Expense=100-500 dollars, depending on personal priorities.

Just money talk says SUNY, hands down.

Also if you are planning further studies then SUNY now, and save the money for Grad School.

But if your parents can afford it, Purdue for strength of academics, very rigorous, Diversity and Weather (when compared to Buffalo).

Read about Purdue from another parent’s point of view here

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/purdue-university-west-lafayette/875414-purdue-engineering-vs-suny-buffalo-cost-standpoint.html

The room and board costs are not that high at Purdue . To live a quality life at Indiana , 40K a year is enough without any aid or scholarship . This includes all the miscellaneous expenses of a student.

After reading the article in the above link , my faith in Purdue’s academic strength and job opportunities , has become stronger .

I believe in myself that after enrolling in the college , I would lay my hands on whatever scholarships are available for International students on the basis of merit . I can Just hope for the best .

My ultimate aim is to put as much less burden on my parents as I can .

Yeah, that is why I said approximate cost, dear.

And I am glad you are thinking of your parents, what a considerate child you are. They must be so proud.

SUNY Buffalo babby

CORRECTION Post No. 5

Books=500k should read 500 dollars

and

Medical Insurance=2000k should read 2k

@ Anialways - Haha sorry , I missed out the ‘Approximate’. To let you know , My parents are ready to pay for Purdue :))
