Need someone to evaluate my chances

Hey,

I'm currently a high school senior, and I'm looking at different colleges (duh!).

Heres my info.

3.5 GPA (not weighted)
5 AP's, each with 5's
Sat= 2380
SAt II:

Bio=800
History=800

Captain of Debate Team (Have won many debate competitions.)
Soccer TEam
Stage Band
President of Interact (cOmmunity service club)
Consul of Latin Club
Editor and Chief of School Newspaper

I did pretty crumby (what a phony word) in freshman and sophmore but did really well in jr year. I went to india got inspired and worked really hard. WHat i would like to know is how are my chances at some different colleges. My perspective colleges are:

-Vassar
-Swarthmore
-Amherst
-Williams
-Dickinson
-Georgetown

And

-NYU
-Columbia
-John Hopkins
-Duke

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Phenomenal test scores you have there, but your GPA works against you a bit at many of these schools. Fortunately, you took tough courses and your debate skill and being president of some clubs helps out.

Vassar--Match
Swarthmore--Slight Reach
Amherst--Slight Reach
Williams--Slight Reach
Dickinson--Match
Georgetown--Match
NYU--Match
Columbia--Slight Reach
John Hopkins--Match
Duke--Slight Reach

wow, really solid record. i think they would all be in your grasp, but i'm not sure if a 3.5 GPA will drag you down or not.

That's an unweighed GPA, and the colleges would realize the effect on honors and AP classes - relative to other classmates - so its not necessarily a problem

Geographic factors would matter - if he's applying from northeast USA, odds drop a bit, however it would seem he's competitive at all of them - although with Amherst, Williams, Swarthmore, and Columbia - they are very difficult to gain admissions - no matter how high the scores are.

Amherst and Swath are big reaches with your GPA. Google up the PBS video on Amherst admissions process.
