Need to Boost GPA Quick

Does anyone know of any online summer schools or classes I can take that are accredited? I currently have a 3.5 GPA and since my school is unfortunately very rural I dont have many options in terms of a local summer school or something like that. Since my senior year is approaching I need to find one quickly that will give me the completed credit before I start applying for college in November-January.(maybe something self-paced idk??) I’m also an Alaska student so unfortunately, VHS isn’t available for me.

ps. Also please dont just tell me to focus on standardized test scores; I’m trying to do that as well lol

Or there is another way to think about it.

You are a 3.5 student. that is good! Find a college for 3.5 students!

Also do the math…how many A’s in how many classes would you have to get to raise your GPA significantly?
You have a lot of classes in your denominator

My son has a 3.5. I wish it was higher but it is what it is. We’re focusing on schools where he’ll get in and will be successful. There are many. Good luck!

A couple of comments:
– One or two summer classes won’t make a material impact on your GPA.
– I the classes are not taken at your HS then won’t impact your HS GPA.
–Focus on finding schools that are matches for your actual stats.
–And you said you are working on this but right now focusing on your SATs (600W 480M – per another thread) especially improving the math section will be more valuable than any slight GPA bump.

@happy1 I don’t disagree with your advice except that classes not taken at you HS won’t impact your GPA. I know this is true some places but it is not universal. Our kids school district counts grades for classes taken outside the school and even in some cases the district. Though, as you said, a class or 2 this summer will have little GPA effect.

By the time you finish Junior year you have so many classes giving you that 3.5 that one or two classes over the summer (if it’s even possible to do that), won’t make a dent. It took my son getting nearly straight A’s his entire Junior year taking 7 classes a semester to bring him from a 3.6 to a 3.7 We were hoping for a 3.8 for a scholarship at the school he’s interested in, but it wasn’t mathematically possible to raise it that much. Now it would be even harder to move the needle.

Assuming 8 classes per year for 3.5 years, and you can find a summer class equivalent to a full year class, an additional A would raise a 3.500 to a 3.517 at the middle of your senior year.

If it’s actually factored into your school GPA. My D’s school will allow her to be placed ahead, but nothing will appear on her transcript.
