I guess I am searching for some safeties (for me) and schools i have a good shot of getting in to that are located in the North east. As it stands, I feel like most of my “safeties” are a ways away
Safeties can be any college where you meet conditions for the Honors College as long as you apply early on, any college where you’re an automatic admit (or automatic scholarship), and any college that admits 50% applicants.
Your best bet is to find Honors Colleges as well as LACs; LACs’ applicant pool are essentially self selective, so that there may be a higher admission rate but rather good stats.
@doschicos Weird question, but is follow a college’s social media page (instagram) a noted form of demonstrating interest?
@hsalem32 - I’m not really sure as I don’t know if they have a way of tracking that. Can’t hurt. To me, the biggies for demonstrated interest are:
Visiting campus if at all feasible, especially if its just a few hours drive away, arranging an overnight if warranted
Interviewing
Meeting with the admissions rep if he/she is coming to our school for a college fair, or if will be attending a college fair within an hour or so from where you live. If your hs doesn’t have that school at the college fair, or doesn’t host college fairs, check the schools website or email the admissions rep to ask if they will be visiting your area.
Writing thank you notes to tour guide/admissions rep if you meet them/interviewer
