<p>Start by removing 90% of your adjectives and adverbs (your seventh grade teacher’s insistence notwithstanding, you really don’t need that many). Break long sentences into two shorter ones, thus removing the necessity for conjunctions. It’s amazing how much you can cut from an essay, changing little of voice or content, by doing those two things.</p>
