need to vent somewhere, i guess i might as well do it here...

ugh.
so in one of classes, i have a friend (a good one) but I noticed that on the first midterm as we were sitting next together that she started ACTUALLY working on the midterm for a good 10 minutes extra (for a 1.5 hour midterm) while the GSIs were reading us instructions for filling in a scantron. We had another midterm 2 days ago, and she did this again and of course never gets caught. I dont know about you guys, but if I had an extra ten minutes on my midterms I would catch some pretty stupid mistakes and could completely change my grade (for a whole LOT better) and I find it unfair that people can actually get away with cheating like this even at the university level-(which i had foolsihly thought would not happen in college when i was an imbecile high schooler) while others must actually find an honest way to make it, and still struggle along the way. i guess we live in high school forever after all.

aaah. that felt good.

for the record, i am already predicting some people will say something along the lines of "oh thats life-deal with it" or "stop being such a prude" and trust me, i AM dealing. i just need to vent.

oh, and I also just waited in line for two hours to get tickets to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama but my friend pretty much was the biggest ***** ever and somehow made me feel guilty for not letting them go together-so I gave mine to hers after standing in line the whole time. i didnt feel bad for my friend but i did for the other girl, thats why i did it.

i guess in some way or another i did practice peace through compassion-His Holliness' central theme so His Holiness somehow managed to already send me the message of his speech)? idk, w/e

and to end on a happy note,
for those who are going, savor this VERY spiritual opportunity and consider yourself fortunate and take in everything for those of us that dont get to go.

peace
:)

that was a very nice thing to do :]

and i would be so ****ed off. doesnt it suck that life isnt fair? :[

Your friend got a ticket but didn’t bother bringing his girl friend to get one too? Tell him to grow a pair and get his own spare ticket. =P

oh thanks for the warm words Castel, lol. Sorry I wasnt clear theyre actually both girls. Thanks you guys!!!

Sorry if this sounds rude, but I would not have given up the tickets. You gave up a once in a lifetime opportunity for someone you probably won’t talk to after you graduate.

Wow. what a 8888

She made you feel guilty because her friend didn’t stand in line with you guys? How does that even make sense? Her friend obviously didn’t have strong feelings to go if she wasn’t willing to stand in line. (unless she’s super sick or death in the family, but that requires a medical note haha jk). Make your friend feel guilty for making you give your ticket away. And then nab her ticket. (And hook up with her friend. hahaha ok a bit messed up.)

But I will agree that 10 minutes extra is a long time and I’ve always thought about doing the same too. haha. I mean, whatever the GSI says usu is so redundant that they might as well give us the 10 minutes and we’ll let them save their breath/spit. You should just be an ass next time and say out loud “Oh ****!!! We can start???” I would laugh my ass off if someone ever did that in a midterm.

And it’s okay guys. We can all gather up at foothill and beyond if we want to hear/see him speak. As long as they don’t put those damn sheets up, the view is golden. hahah

What a pushover.

OP,

i’m sorry dude! that sucks!

and you are always free to vent. that’s what we’re all here for!

cheers!

i understand why you would be upset over that person getting extra time but the 2nd conflict is very trivial.

You should have reached over and ripped up her scantron.
Then ripped up the Dalai Lama tickets.
