you know what I really hate

getting B+s on midterms, especially when you're just one point away from the cut off. Charlie Brown arggggggh

OH NO. A B+???

your life is over, nerdddd

YES IT IS!!! >:| I actually studied two days before the exams for the first time here at Berkeley (or ever I guess) because I was aiming for an A. lol (Well that and I had 2 on the same day).

I’ve still yet to get that darn unit. I managed to talk to the girl today though but now I gotta go to the office to talk. Aren’t you excited that we’re gonna have a class together and actually know that I’m in it??? :D

seriously?? ive studied for like almost a week in advance for some classes and still hated my grades. cough physics cough how do you smart cookies pull even B+'s only studying 2 days before?

im not sure what office you’re talking about? finaid or the volunteer for units thing you mentioned a while ago? what do you think we need to review from bio 1a before 162a? i dont really remember anything from it at this point so im a little worried lol…

oh and finally, i think you should be the excited one. you are getting the opportunity of a lifetime to be taking a class with Waiting4College.

I generally just failed at physics and ended up with a C in 8a. That was not shocking. 8b was a lot kinder and easier to understand though. (Buehler was just a better teacher than Fajans by far anyway…good god Fajans…smh)
Yaa I gotta go to the department office to check to see if i can get units…I don’t know …messy sitch.

Why do we need to know bio1a for 162? I heard that entire class consisted of filling in the blanks from slides and then just memorizing slides lol

No curve? If the average was really low, a B+ is really good.

One of the classes did (so like curved it went from a B to a B+…) and the other didn’t.

so you are annoyed at the b+ on the midterm but not so much for the c in physics?

oh i’m not taking physics now. that was a year ago. trust me, i was more than annoyed. I just could not understand Fajans and since that was my first semester ever taking physics…well a lot of bad words were thrown around.

The problem is you guys are trying to cram. You learn more effectively if you do it over long periods of time with sleep after each study session (sleeping results in higher retention).

Let’s say you spend 16 hours cramming before a final. You would retain more knowledge if you instead spent 16 hours over the course of the semester and no time cramming at the end.

So instead of cramming before every exam, instead spend an hour every evening studying the material and when exam time comes you won’t be popping Modafinil for 2 days straight trying to learn everything at the last minute.

yeah batman, i did pretty poorly in physics myself, even though i studied sooo much for it (at the end)- but it was never the right study strategy…so i understand what you went through.
and micah, i think most people know that, it is just that it is hard to concentrate when you know the test is one or two weeks from now, because you don’t have the pressure, ya know? but ideally, it would be great if i had perfect time management and study strategies…

Yeah it’s really dumb for people to get 2-4 hours of sleep. That’s probably like more than half of Berkeley hahaha wow. I don’t know why people do that…I bet they don’t study ALL of those hours so they would do better just sleeping anyways. Whatever. That’s their way of living…

there are more important things than sleep. like $.

that’s why you have parents.

wow but i never knew that! THATS THE ANSWER!

nope, dying’s the answer.

lol that’s what we get for coming to berkeley. suicidal thoughts.

berkeley is only for those who can survive.

I haven’t heard of any Berkeley suicides since I got here… o__O However, I heard in Cornell, they have 5-10/year.

Wow… this topic got depressing fast xD

Berkeley students just have the thoughts…but they dont act on it

who wants to die because of school work, there are so many things you can enjoy, like girls, cars …

exactly. material things.
