I think so. 10 hours ago it said"Failure VM",but now the reason is changed to"Term ID Errors"
Think and hope they are fixing the problem

Has anyone managed to make the payment? I just tried again, and the message it gave me said:

Your payment, detailed below, was declined due to the following reason(s): TERM ID ERROR

You need to file an official report through Common App. They know they have some issues they are working on repairing but it may or may not extend to your apps.

As Common App wrote earlier: “please open a support ticket with the Common App support team by clicking on the Help link from within the Common Application. Provide all the details of the error you encountered when attempting to pay Yale’s application fee. If it is indeed the same issue this information will be helpful for our team to work on resolving the issue. Thank you.”

does BU applicants also have to do that?

I applied to BU and I’m also having that problem. Yesterday it said FAILURE VM and today it said Invalid ID Error. I submitted a report for the common app and I also emailed BU admissions. Hope someone figures out something soon

What did you tell the BU admissions?

This is so irritating!

Good thing this isn’t happening at the Stanford payment location. Stanford specifically says that if the common app isn’t working – for any reason – tough noogies. They advise submitting the application well before the deadline to avoid common app glitches. Hopefully Yale and BU are not so hard core.

At this point I might just wait a few hours. And if that doesn’t work, e-check here I come. I was looking through the BU site, it doesn’t say anything about not receiving the payment late. I was able to submit my apps to Columbia and UChicago with no problem, just my last school, BU, is giving me issues at this point. Irritated

I just made a payment for NYU with the same card and it went through. BU applicants what should we do about this? I dont think the university has anything to do with this, its more of a Common app issue… Im unsure if i should email BU given that it would give them the impression of my last minute app submission :(

As long as you get it in by the deadline, I think they don’t care. I just sent an email, but had all my other parts submitted last week. I just didn’t have access to my parents cards for a few days.

@TheReadingFish howd you start off the email?
I want to be really careful with approaching them lol

@dc2995

I had my greeting and Happy New Years, then something like this:

“I have submitted my freshman application for RD 2013, but when I try to do the payment through the common app, the payment will not go through. I have tried multiple times and I keep getting a decline message. Is there another way to submit my payment?”

Does any one know if the system is not repaired by tonight, what will happen? Will the school give us another chance, or will we l just be disqualified if the payment is not settled?

@TheReadingFish
I got an automatic email reply from BU

“Boston University will be closed for the holidays beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2012 until 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. During this time, it will not be possible for us to respond to email or phone inquiries.”

Now what…
The deadline is tonight. Are you kidding me…

@dc2995 I know -_- I really hope they fix it, but I am waiting it out for a few hours, and then checking. If that doesn’t work, then e-check.

We have just received confirmation from our payment provider that the problem with online payments for Boston University and Yale University has been resolved. You should be able to successfully pay your application fee to those universities via credit card.

If you encounter any further issues with payment (or anything else Common App related) our talented support team is poised and ready to help!

My payments for neither Boston University nor Columbia University are being submitted. This time, my credit card is being declined for reason “CALL” rather than “FAILURE VM”.

Well, I emailed the Admissions Office for no reason… haha
Thanks for fixing the issue Common App!
