<p>For some reason the Common App is declining my payment! It says the reason is "transaction error". What does this mean? Is there something wrong with my credit card? I just used it...?</p>

<p>Yeah, I’m in the exact same boat. I’m freaking out as well. I tried to call the bank, it’s not the credit card, it’s the website I think. It must be overloaded or something. Other places I’ve checked said to wait a couple of hours. Hopefully we’ll be able to submit it later on today…</p>
<p>Do payment by checking account, if you can. That gets to the payment confirmation page, even though it has not gone through yet, and you can submit.</p>

<p>you should do what awcntdb suggested. i was having the same problem using a credit card but the payment went through when i used my checking account. you just need to have a check to get your routing and account numbers and the address of your bank.</p>
