Good Day,

Well, as you can see that I am a new female member in this wonderful forum. Firstly, let me talk a little bet about myself. My name is Noura and I am 22 years old. I am a fresh graduated from Qatar University with a GPA of 3.00/4. I was doing English Literature as a minor and English Language as a major.

The last couple of weeks, my university offered me a job to work as research assistance in the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute at Qatar University. If you have not heard about the agreement between the Qatar University and the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research regarding this new institute, you can get it from this website:

U-M ISR partners with Qatar University on research institute

However, they told me that if I really want to get the job, I must complete my master's degree and I have accepted this condition. So, I am planning to study at University of Michigan hopefully in the beginning of next semester to complete my master's degree.

Actually, I have never been to USA before and this is my first trip, so I am a little bet nerves and afraid. I just wanted to know about Ann Arbor, what is going on out there, how are the people, the place, the services, the whether, everything you know that it will help me. Also, PLEASE let me know if there is any apartment that is close to the university in the State Street area to live in during the 2 years that i am going to spend in the university.

I also want to know about the University of Michigan in general, the students, the teachers, the environment and everything. Is there any specialization in the field of research to make my master? I really would like to know your experiences.

Waiting for your response

regards,
Noura
