Hi all,

I was looking for some opinions on an initiative I was planning to start. I have been a part of the Future Educators of America since freshman year and as part of this I go to my town's K-2 school every week to help out the teachers and work with the kids. It's something I really love doing and I have recently started a paid job tutoring kids as well. I absolutely adore teaching kids and seeing the impact education has on them and was planning to start a literacy initiative at the elementary where every certain period of time the kids would have to bring in a book of their choosing, trade it with other kids and once they have finished reading it donate the book to a book donation program at my high school.

I know this is a very small scale project and not something extraordinarily impactful but do you guys think its worth the time and is something I should pursue? Leadership is not the main reason I want to do this but would this be a "good" leadership for college? Also do you guys have any other ideas for a organization that promotes or helps younger children with their education or literacy or anything related?

I was also planning to start a dance team (our school has so many dancers yet no dance team) but I know it will take a long time and a lot of planning to get started. Would that be a better use of my time in regards to leadership/ college applications?

Also any leadership position ideas would be great. I know leadership is important but I am kind of lost on ideas.

Thanks!
