How important is being the leader/captain/president for a bunch of clubs? I know that I have the ability to lead, but most of the positions are popularity contests. I've tried to start my own clubs but all the teachers already have their own clubs to supervise. So how much do colleges expect from us (especially top colleges)?

Hmm, I wonder if leadership class could count as leadership. It’s often better than being the officer in a club because since it’s a class it shows you definitely have to do stuff, not just be named to a position.

you dont have to have a title to show leadership.

Then how would colleges know? Through the interview?

idkididk: do your teachers and top administrators know you as one of the most influential people in your class? Or as one of the top scholars of your year?

If not, who are those people in your school? Why are they recognized (from a professional opinion of the faculty/staff) as such?

This has very little to do with who’s the Prez of so & so afterschool club.

When I do info sessions for my HYP alma mater, I pose these same two questions to the students who inquire about their chances at my school. I let them decide to weed themselves out or not. I’m not there to gather more applicants, ever.
