My DD attended an overnight visit this week at American. At the financial aid presentation the person giving the presentation said that American is now a needs meet school. I thought it would be good information to share.
This has not been highly publicized, as this one of the top three choices for my D and I was concerned about cost. She is a junior so I have time to learn more. Does anyone suspect the term “meet needs” means they they’ll throw a lot of loan options at you to “meet the need?”
My AU senior has always had federal loans, subsidized and unsubsidized, included in his award package.
It would include the 5500 direct loan, but the rest was grants and scholarship
Meets need has never meant “no loans”. It does imply only federal loans. So $5500 frosh year, $6500 soph year, and $7500 jr & sr years. And, of course, it is THEIR definition of need. It might not be the same as your definition!
