i'm not a current student, but Brandeis is ugly.

To some. Not to me, but to some. There's also a wide array of non-navigatable hills and stairs.

I would agree with hemingway. Visually, Brandeis is not the prettiest of the campuses I've seen/been on. I love the outdoors, and Brandeis doesn't have woods in its backyard. On the other hand, I was at school over break at Brandeis did have an incredible amount of landscapers the the campus looks better than I have ever seen before.

Also, Brandeis has a small endowment (in contrast to the other schools of equal prestige), and that is apparent in various ways. Mind you, Brandeis is an incredibly young institution (just over 50 years old), and has risen dramatically and continues to do so (and with it the endowment goes up). Student events needs a boost.

Not having a laundry room in every dorm. It's a pain in the ass to drag my laundry down 3 flights of stairs, outside, then down another flight of stairs to get to the laundry. It's bad in ice, snow, rain, and just in general.

Also, there needs to be a ski lift across campus. :P I sprained my ankle and absolutely could not navigate the campus. Between the hills and stairs and being on the top floor of a dorm, I ended up causing more injury to my ankle so that it still bothers me 7 months later. I don't really know realistically would could be done as the hills are mildly permanent, but perhaps in future buildings that could be more of a consideration.

Also, if you like architecture, Brandeis has some pretty neat buildings, our campus center was recently featured in an architectural magazine which is kind of cool...also in response to SilverClover, not having laundry in every dorm varies based on where you live, Massell quad (one of the two first-year quads) had laundtry in ever dorm for instance. I'm not sure about North Quad, the other first year quad.

There is not laundry in my building in North Quad- in fact, there's really only one main laundry room for 3 buildings and a very small one in the 4th. Next year in the Castle, the laundry is in the Schwartz building next door, but still outside.

Not having laundry in your dorm is extremely inconvenient and something that most other colleges seem to have a leg up on against Brandeis.

Parking. There was talk a couple of years ago of turning T lot into a parking garage, but who knows where those plans are now.

by spring 2008, X lot will be a garage, according to the Brandeis website http://www.brandeis.edu/capitalprojects/projects/project_parking_structure.html

That's interesting that you think that--to me Brandeis looks like a mix of a modern university much like MIT's campus (Shapiro Campus Center) and a small New England college....well actually that is what it is. I think this will remain true when the brand new science complex and Ridgewood residence hall is completed; they are also demolishing the admissions building for a brand new one. Brandeis is going to look spectacular very very soon.

Government institutions don't have castles...

And OT- physiclas, how do I not know you? I worked at Centro too (but at a different time).
