Lesser no. of applicants, hence seemingly lesser competition.....................but not quite because the places available are also less. Ya, the acceptance rate at most colleges for EA/ED are higher than the RD rounds so you could say it increases the chances of getting in.Hope that answers your question.

cheers

P.S: Nice to see the Nepali thread alive and kicken' again. :)

But very few people who post.

Hey all Ithaca college and Elizabethtown college might be some other safeties for you all. Good luck.

how can i start with my application essay? heard it plays decisive role in our acceptance.... tried many times but i think i just lack tht motivation thing

is it necessary to take classes for sat? at present i'm doin it on my own but i doubt if i can get a good score

Your right when you say that application essay plays a huge role in the whole admission process. As for where you start.................brainstorm ideas, may not be the best ones but keep them coming and note 'em all down. You might just hit gold and have a brilliant essay. And when you have two days left before deadline and not a single word on your essay, then believe me you wont have to worry about motivation. :)

Depends upon the individual i guess, many people score high SAT scores without taking any sort of classes so if you confident enough then do it on your own and save the money for your next date.

one more thing, is it necessary that every application supplimant should reach the admission affice by deadline or we can just send common app then n send other materials later/

its not that big a deal if its only a few days. you should let someone at admissions know though; that way you are on the safe side.
Colleges arent steadfast abt the exact deadline; as long as you arent a few months late, they will accept your applications in most cases. Of course, it is always best to get all your info in beforehand.
good luck

cheers to backinblue...
when its already Jan 16 in Nepal but you still have a few hrs before its Jan 16 in the US, you find both motivation and desperation in the same cup in abundance.

Some colleges will need the supplement along with the app. Commonapp will highlight those colleges with grey.

Hello, I am Interested In EE, so could you list some of good colleges providing, need based scholarship ?

007

Heh, It might me stupid to ask but, how to know whether the College Provides Engineering of our Choice. In College Websites it is simply written Engineering.

I assume you mean ED, and maybe if you provide your stats we could suggest you some colls with good Engineering programs. By the way, what kind of Engineering are you interested in??

EE = electrical engineering!
Check the majors the college offers in Collegeboard.com. If it still only says "engineering", it's probably simply general engineering. If it has ME, EE, ChemE or whatever under 'engineering', the college provides those. Liberal arts colleges generally offer only general engineering.

oh and hi backinblue! seems like you still come here often!

hey art_007 in which college's website did u see only engineering? If u can't find diff eng departments there then it might only have general engineering. For e.g. Swarthmore college.

Its all about giving back to the society, dude. :)

Heh, Here are list of Questions,

[a]. What is the Difference between Electrical Engineering and simply Engineering ?

**. Heh, I think there are very few Liberal Arts College Providing Electrical Engineering, can you name some ?

[c]. I play guitar, and sing song too, but I am not a master. Is it wise to send a CD of my songs ?

I'll leave the first two ques. for aaron to answer since its his area of expertise.

If those are Nepali songs, dont bother. They wont undestand a word of it so theres no point in it.

If those are English songs, then again dont bother because since you are not a "master", you probably aint that good, hence wont help you much getting into a Engineering college. However, if you have built a robot or found the cure for AIDS or even cracked the solution for Global warming, then I say send it. :)

i disagree with backinblue on this one. whether its nepali or english, if you find the idea comfortable, you should go ahead and send them a CD. worst case scenario, you suck at it but even then, it still shows you have a passion for music and an interest in the college, which is why you are taking the time and effort to make and send them a CD of your work. of course, it only helps if you truly value what you do, no matter your ability, but if you are tying to do it only to better your chances, that might not be a good idea.
as regards EE or any other program, I think it best you check out the college websites to find specific information.

Then we'll have to agree to disagree. :)
