My GC thinks he's incontrovertible, chochu!! I don't know how to get around him. But come to think about it, he is an experienced GC, knows what he's doing, Maybe something instigated him not to write the requests. Anyway, screw it!

.............and I always thought he was a "she". d'ohhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i dont think there is any grand design behind ur GC making you pay for college apps. It is just plain stupid.
about the bank balance and income statement, you need to send it along with ur fin aid forms to show how much money u have and ur family earns each year to establish that u are actually qualified to ask for need based fin aid. this is essential for your fin aid form to be completed. if u look carefully into ur fin aid form, it says attach related documents like bank statement and income statement. the tax statement is a means of showing the income as it is the official recognition of a person's earnings. these tax receipts are looked into very effectively in the US, unlike Nepal, hence they give this a lot of importance but it really isnt an absolute necessity.
Personally, I just sent the income statement and a bank statement. when applying for visa as well, u need to have these documents, along with ur fin aid letter and ur fin aid forms.
hope that helps

holy crap!... this finaid stuff seems more complicated than i thought. have u ppl looked at the International Student Financial Aid Application and International Student Certification of Finances? The institutional finaid form is much simpler in comparison.

... there's a lotttt of work still to be done :( ... [caluculating the amount i spend for entertainment every year in US$ for instance!!]

hya fin aid is really hard ! aba i've to calculate an iwho keeps track of how much has been spent on food and clothing. btw, how much do ppl show in their accounts for paying 'bout 500$ a yr?

only $500 a year??? a $2000-$2500 bank account should suffice..

and wut all constitute entertainment?
let's do an estimate,
cable, cd/dvd (music/game/movies), movie theaters: roughly rs1000-1500 a month on average?
does internet come under utility or entertainment?
and wut else comes under entertainment? vacations has its own category..

clothing: u don't buy clothes EVERY month i guess. so rs500/month on avg? [well, at least i don't buy a lottt of clothes!]

umm, gues help me out here..willing to pay abt 4 grand plus work...bank acc katti dekhaunu....ani what if my pop has a bigger income and is self employed? tax statement na pathaunda huncha?

miss said that if ur the owner get it attested by the GM of the company or the board of directors....abha drycleaning business ma kata bata bhettaunu board of directors...euta matra head dhobi cha

yeah, tax statement is not absolutely essential. ani guys, u need to learn to make up stuff. just tell ur uncle or sth to act like the head of the business who employs ur dad or sth and make him sign.
or, u can just make the true statements and send them.

well... i guess u'll have to think up some innovative soln... just make sure you let the college know how much you can afford! in the end tht's all tht matters.

at least tht's wut i've decided

but wut about if the bank statement doesn't seem to go with the income statement? like if your income is way higher than ur bank statement suggests. like although u don' have much in ur bank, maybe ur steady income could support you through college! (up to the amount u expect to contribute of course!)

and abt the graded writing sample, take any written assigment from one of your classes, improve on it, have it rechecked and graded, and send it. [i think!]
