Neuroscience schools.....

Hi there…We are in the process of looking for that “perfect fit” for D2 who is interested in neuroscience. Hers the thought process so far. She’s looking for a medium sized school, 7-17000 students. She will finish HS with probably 7 AP’s either A’s or A-. Her class is the first to “weight” the gpa, but only gives .10 extra, so an A in an AP is only worth 4.1. First stab at ACT fall of sophomore year was a 28, with 30’s on math and science, 26 Reading and English, which strangely have always been her strengths. As to EC’s, she is in a competition school choir which is year round and demands over 25 hrs per week outside of school time, as well as tennis, theater, four clubs(our school requires “active membership” in order to go on your transcript which stops the padding of the resume, NHS is one of the four) a job, and over 300 community service hours. She would love Tulane, Emory, UNC, but those seem to be reaches for her. I think that’s it! Any thoughts as to other schools that might be an option?

Take a look at University of Pittsburgh.

^^^^Pitt has approx. 35,000 students – well above the OP’s target size.

Perhaps consider URochester & Lehigh (especially if the ACT goes up) and Fordham,

Wiki says UPitt has 18K undergrads, 28 K total.

@ShrimpBurrito The OP said “students” not “undergrads”. (I read that Pitt has 34,934 students as of 2014 from Wikipedia but that is immaterial) It seemed to me that the OP is looking for a mid-sized university, but with UNC in the mix it is hard to tell. I do agree that Pitt fits the OPs academic criteria.
